Standardized Testing

Important tests, some of them required and some of them optional, are given throughout the year.  Please check with your counselor for specific times, dates, locations and costs of any tests you wish to take.

 

EXPLORE Test (Practice ACT for Freshmen)

  • May be taken by all freshmen during school hours.
  • There is a charge for taking this test.
  • Sign up in Counseling Office.

 

PLAN Test (Practice ACT)

  • May be taken by all sophomores during school hours.
  • There is a charge for taking this test.
  • Sign up in Counseling Office.

 

PSAT (Practice SAT)

  • Target group is college-bound sophomores.
  • There is a charge for taking this test.
  • Sign up in the Counseling Office.

 

MME (Michigan Merit Exam)

  • The MME consists of many parts including the ACT with writing, Work Keys assessment, additional English and Mathematics assessments, MEAP Science test and MEAP Social Studies test.
  • Taken by ALL juniors during school hours.
  • Dates are determined by the State of Michigan (typically given in the spring).
  • There is no charge for taking this test.
  • Subject areas include Mathematics, Science, Reading, Writing, and Social Studies.
  • Scholarships may be awarded for those students who meet the requirements (based on legislative action).
  • Retake dates are determined by the State of Michigan.

 

ACT/SAT Tests

  • ACT with writing is part of the MME taken by Juniors.
  • Additional testing dates are scheduled throughout the year at various locations.
  • ACT and SAT tests are college entrance examinations.
  • See your counselor for registration and fee schedule.

 

Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations

  • Target group is juniors and seniors enrolled in AP courses.
  • Dates and times are determined by the College Board.
  • Fees are determined by the College Board (typically about $80 per test).
  • College credit is determined by exam score and individual colleges and universities.
