Grading Policies (continued)
Summer School
Most summer school courses are taken for credit and count toward graduation in the same manner as courses taken during the regular school year. Many students attend summer school to repeat a failed course or make up credit lost as a result of a failure. Summer school fees are determined by the Board of Education. The same rules and regulations are in effect during summer school as during the regular school year.
Transfer Student Requirements
A student transferring to the L’Anse Creuse district must satisfy all requirements for graduation as specified by the L’Anse Creuse Board of Education. Comparable coursework taken at a previous school will be evaluated, and appropriate credit will be applied toward the L’Anse Creuse requirements.
Credit Waivers
A graduation credit requirement may be waived if the student takes a course in which sufficient material relating to the subject being waived is taught. Specific courses providing waivers are identified within their specific course descriptions. In no way does this alter or waive the total number of credits needed for high school graduation.
Calculating Grade Point Averages
The 4.0 grade point average is calculated by (1) assigning the following points to each student’s letter grade:
|

(2) Add the total number of point warranted for each grade on the report card and divide that by the total number of grades given. (3) Divide that figure by 3 to arrive at a GPA on the four-point scale. An example of this follows:
(1)

(2) 51 / 6 = 8.5
(3) 8.5 / 3 = 2.83
This student has a GPA of 2.83.
