  • Macomb Intermediate School District - Homeless Education Project: (586-228-3490)Assists homeless students with basic needs such as backpacks, school supplies, clothing, food,and community referrals.
  • The Right Connection (www.misd.net/connection)A directory of free or low cost community resources for students and their families. Additional resources include employment and training, transportation, parenting classes, child care, and support groups.
  • United Way: 211 or (800) 552-1183 Provides callers with information about and referrals to human services for every day needs and in times of crisis, such as basic human needs (shelter, food, clothing, rent and utility assistance); physical and mental health; employment supports; support for the elderly and disabled; support for children, youth, and families.
  • Good Shepherd Coalition: (586) 464-0193 http://goodshepherdcoalition.org/index.html Assists Central Macomb County residents with food, furniture, shelter, clothing, medical needs, rent and utility payments, gas vouchers, and holiday baskets. Referral by a participating church is needed. Most area churches participate.

  • Macomb County Community Action Center:  Assists Macomb County residents with emergency utility and rent payments, weatherization of homes/mobile homes, and referrals to local food banks. Must be referred from the Department of Human Services.

    • Dental Clinic: Provides low cost, routine and non-emergency dental services for low income children and adults of Macomb County.
    •  Immunizations: Vaccines for children and adults.
    • Free hearing and vision screening, referrals, and follow-up supervision for preschool (3-5 years old) and school aged children. 
    •  Provides maternal/child health information and education, including parenting, infant care, growth and development, nutrition, safety, and immunizations. 
    • MI Child/Healthy Kids/ Prenatal Health Care Insurance: a free health insurance program for qualifying pregnant women, babies, and children under the age of 19 years. Income and insurance eligibility guidelines. 
    • Grief counseling and support services by specifically trained health nurses to families who have experiences a sudden or unexpected infant death. 
    • Family Planning: reproductive health education, counseling, contraception management, and care at the Mount Clemens, Warren, and St. Clair Shores locations. 
    •  Free blood pressure and heart disease risk assessment screenings for Macomb County residents over the age of 18 years.
  • Neighbors Caring for Neighbors

    • Provides treatment for acute illnesses (colds, ear infections, bronchitis, rashes, and cuts); women’s health; treatment for chronic illnesses (high blood pressure, diabetes); employment and school physicals; immunizations. Services are available for persons and families of all ages, economically disadvantaged, and persons with no medical insurance. Must be a Macomb County resident
