Hearing of the School District Patrons
District residents, business owners and parents of students enrolled in L’Anse Creuse Public Schools can speak at any Board meeting during the Hearing of School District Patrons portion of the agenda. While the bylaws for the public participation portion of the agenda contain more detailed information, the general procedures for public participation are as follows: An individual wishing to speak during the Hearing of School District Patrons should raise his/her hand to be recognized by the Board president. Once recognized, the individual may give his/her name, address and topic for the official record of the Board minutes. Comments should not exceed five minutes.
Board members may question speakers, but are not obligated to answer questions or make statements or commitments in response to issues raised by the public. In general, such issues will be referred to the superintendent for review, study and recommendation. Individuals who wish to have an item placed on the agenda are advised to first contact the superintendent of schools. Questions regarding individual students should first be addressed with the teacher. If necessary, the principal or administrator who is closest to the situation may become involved. If additional discussion is necessary, the question or issue can be referred to the superintendent of schools.
