 Mary E. Sanders

Mary Sanders

Personal:  Two daughters, one graduated from LCHS-N and the other is at LCHS. Board member for 2 years; Community resident for 22 years.

Why did you run for the school Board? I had been a very active parent at the elementary level. PTO Board member for eight years (two years without a child in the elementary school). My youngest daughter moved on to Middle School and I still wanted to be involved in the schools, with the staff and students and so I decided what a better way than to run for the Board of Education.

Goals as a Board member: “To continue to provide the necessary resources to ensure that each of our students gets the best education. To make sure we do everything possible so that no child falls through the cracks.”

Areas of concerns for the district in the next five years: “Complying with the No Child Left Behind. Looking for ways to ensure that no child falls between the cracks.”

“Financial constraints due to budget cuts. Our focus should be on trying to keep the standards of learning we have set for our students during the upcoming tough financial times. L'Anse Creuse Public Schools has high standards and I want to make sure that we can preserve these in any way possible.”

Additional comments: “This is a very tough time to be a Board member with all the cuts in funding schools are facing. My focus will be to keep the best interest of our students as a top priority and offer the best education possible.”

“It is truly a pleasure to work with such a wonderful administration and parents of the L’Anse Creuse community.”
