Why are you seeking this position? - I see my service on the Board of Education as one way I can give back to my community in a way that will make a difference in the quality of life in our community and in the future success of our students
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing school districts today? (explain) I see two specific challenges that are interlinked as the biggest facing school districts today. The first is the challenge in continuing to provide diverse educational opportunities for all students in complement with meeting the mandated curriculum requirements. The second, but closely linked, is the challenge of best utilizing our resources; people, facility and money to continue to improve and excel in the quality of education we offer.
What role do you see the school board playing in tackling that challenge? - Encouragement and guidance to the district administration to continue to explore, review and implement best practices in education. - Continue to act as an oversight body for insuring best use of District resources - Encourage and participate in the continuation of the district's long-term planning practices. - Help manage district policies to insure they keep pace with an ever-changing educational landscape. - Be as involved as possible as a Board Member, Community Member and (in my case, specifically) as a District Parent.
If elected, what skills would you bring to the board? - An open mind on critical issues - An in-depth understanding of finances - The perspective of a parent with students in the district - My accumulated learning’s from my first term - A passion to continue to improve on an on-going basis.
